Rapi's later car construction would profit from the experience gained through the manufacture of airplane engines. That's why it seemed astonishing to the car world that former Italian luxury maker Isotta Fraschini had sensational plans to revive its lost glory. However, the outbreak of World War II shattered their initial optimism. However, tests revealed that conventional coil springs were more effective. A grandiose presentation catalog prepared for the Paris show contained a host of specialized cars in addition to the Isotta Fraschini 8C Monterosa that were meant to mesmerize potential buyers with the promise of a return to unique, handcrafted, and sensuously styled coach-built bodies.
